Nice rallying cry and sentiment, but I disagree. Startups help adapt and coax our world towards positive, and occasionally trigger/facilitate widespread change, but the world-changing heavy lifting usually falls on activists, policymakers, governments and impact-driven individuals. Twitter, Google, Apple come to mind, but still pale in comparison to the UN, Gates Foundation, or increasing environmental standards that literally save lives. In our tech world we tend to ignore the complexity, power, and history of these actors in affecting our world.
It’s a useful naivety, which I generally support, but a naivety nonetheless.
